The most visited Czech Internet Portal, Seznam.cz, is well-known to all these who seek information, friends or entertainment online. However, a little different kind of information is needed by both the managers and the employees of this company – they need information of a comprehensive company information system which supports the corporate management and company agenda. In view of this Seznam.cz joined the pool of the key accounts of the HELIOS Green information system in 2010.

Naturally there used to be an information system at Seznam.cz before 2010 too. Nevertheless it was a simpler one with a predominantly economic functionality, which came to lag behind the needs of a large-scale company.

„We intended to change to modern technologies and simultaneously we were looking for a robust system, which would offer a greater variability of functionalities, a wider openness and also a possibility of integration with some other software. The potential of a future development of the system and the stability of its provider mattered too,” says Milan Smutný, Seznam.cz Economic Director.

The company declared a tender in which three companies participated. HELIOS Green by Asseco Solutions was one of the candidates and offered a solution which corresponded to the ideas of the Seznam.cz management as regards price quotation, possible functionalities, scope of the system as well as date of potential delivery. Due to this fact it was this very system that was selected in the end.

The implementation was highly demanding owing to the need of transferring an enormous amount of both historical data and current documents, issued by the company every month, from the original system to the new one.

At Seznam.cz functionalities which support the activities of the Economic Section, HR Section and Legal Section are currently implemented, which facilitates the operations of the entire company. Another module having been implemented here is Workflow, enabling a trouble-free flow of documents through the whole firm, and also the Controlling module by the partner company Gist.

An interesting feature of the project is that it was necessary to develop a so-called communication bridge of accounting, which communicates with business systems. This communication with business systems is carried out on the basis of exchanging messages by XML-RPC technology, the communication with HELIOS Green on the basis of a standard interface of web services. The Seznam.cz management highly appreciates this tool.
