The company SUN Hotels has been present on the gastronomic and accommodation market only since 2005. Nevertheless, within this relatively short time it has succeeded in winning very good reputation with guests, besides others also thanks to a new four-star OLD TOWN Hotel, opened together with Merci restaurant in Francouzská Street in Brno in September 2011. To provide perfect services and to allow the staff to take utmost care of guests, a company naturally needs a support provided by superior and specialized information systems – in case of SUN Hotels these are HELIOS Horec a HELIOS BlueGastro.

Prior to the implementation of the HELIOS systems a system by another provider had been utilized at SUN Hotels. However, on opening the new facilities – OLD TOWN Hotel and Merci restaurant – need for systems with a larger functionality arose. Because of this a selection procedure to purchase new system (or possibly systems) was declared. It was organized in several rounds, where in the second one the number of candidates was reduced to three. In the third round additional terms, which the company Asseco Solutions submitted in the most acceptable form, were the decisive criteria. In view of this the specialized HELIOS Horec system (for hotel activities) and the HELIOS BlueGastro system (for the operation of the restaurant) were selected.

Immediately after signing the contract the implementation of both the systems was started. It was carried out in several stages and finished in September 2011, i.e. before the final inspection of the hotel. Therefore the staff had enough time to get acquainted with handling both the systems. According to the hotel´s management the benefit of both the systems lies above all in assuring high flexibility and sparing the work of the staff.

„We are just starting with the HELIOS system,” says Mgr. Miroslav Bazger, OLD TOWN Hotel & Merci restaurant General Manager. „However it is already clear now that it can help us in many ways. The related service is superior too. In many situations, in which we found ourselves in a ,cul-de-sac´ during the first days of using the system, we were supported by a ,friend on the phone´, which is very important.” And he adds, smiling: „Every system is ,bad´until its users get to know how to use it properly.”
