The Second System Of The Helios Family To Be Implemented At Strojírny POLDI (19. 08. 2008)

The company Strojírny POLDI, a.s. (POLDI Machinery Works), which became another important customer of the Helios Green information system, takes up the over-one-hundred-year-long tradition of the former mechanic plants of Poldina huť Kladno (Poldi´s Smelting Works Kladno). It specializes in manufacturing crank-shafts for agricultural machines, building machines, cars and trucks and in the production of rolls and tools from high-speed and instrumental steel.

However this is not the first time that Strojírny POLDI has come into contact with the Helios systems as this company has long been utilizing the Helios Orange system and simultaneously the EPOS e-procurement system successfully.

So why a switch-over to another system, though of the same „family“? This is explained by ing. Petr Melichar, Strojírny POLDI Finance and Purchasing Director: „Our company is growing continually, and this not only by turnover, but also by manufacturing. Therefore the current Helios Orange system is getting to be „too small“ for us. Moreover this system does not cover all the corporate processes in a company with such an extensive operation,“ he adds.

The company´s own software was handling manufacturing, warehouses and trading at Strojírny Poldi. The other processes are to be handled by the Helios ERP system. In this setting data are imported and converted between the systems and in some cases collected more than once. This is highly ineffective and errors might occur. That´s why the corporate management decided to purchase an information system which would cover all the corporate processes fully.

In view of this the first round of the tender was organized in 2007, out of which three potential systems were selected. In the first quarter was held the second round, won by the Helios Green system.

„There were more evaluation criteria,“ describes the system´s selection Mr. Melichar. „It was important for us whether the new information system would cover all the corporate processes and also whether it was prepared for EDI communication. We evaluated user´s interface. References and the supplier´s goodwill were significant for us too. And last but not least the price was an important, though not the most important, factor. We also considered highly relevant the professional abilities of the team to implement the system and our trust in this team,“ adds Mr. Melichar.

The contract between the companies Strojírny POLDI and LCS was signed on 1 July 2008. By signing this contract the process of implementation was started. The modules Wages and Human Resources, Attendance, Economy, CRM, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Planning, Technical Preparation of Manufacturing, EDI, Maintenance of Machines and Equipment, Controlling and Barcodes Support will be implemented. The start of the system´s operation is expected as of 1 January 2009.

„I expect well-arranged and up-to-date information from the system,“ says Mr. Melichar. „We also expect that we will be able to react to the requirements of our customers better, that the corporate processes will be optimized and that all our work will be made more effective. We hope that the purchasing process will be made simpler and more precise and that the stock level will be optimized.“

Skupina ASSECO

Skupina ASSECO vznikla koncem roku 2004, kdy Asseco Slovakia a Asseco Poland uzavřely strategické partnerství. Motivem obou firem pro tento krok byl především přetrvávající trend globalizace IT trhu a s ním související nízká schopnost malých lokálních firem konkurovat nadnárodním dodavatelům IT služeb při získávání zákazníků.

Skupina ASSECO roste vytvářením nových národních pilířů a současně rozšiřuje portfolio poskytovaných služeb prostřednictvím akvizic úspěšných firem na domácích a zahraničních trzích.
