Accounting in the Helios systems

The Helios systems solution is designed for companies which manage accounting, payroll and HR management agendas, offer tax consultancy services, or provide auditing services. Accounting companies also need to be able to transfer data from their clients.

Accounting companies are marked by a significant level of diversity in the number and type of areas in which they work and the modules which they choose from those offered by Helios systems.

The most frequently used modules include:

  • Accounting
  • Tax Records
  • Banking
  • Cash Office
  • Assets
  • Payroll and HR Management
  • International Accounting Standards
  • Managing Cash Flow
  • Financial Analysis
  • Project Management

Case study CCS Consulting

Comprehensive services in the area of law, taxes, accounting and audits, as well as broader business consultancy services - all this belongs to the portfolio of services offered by CCS Consulting, a consultancy group active in the Central European region.

CCS Consulting was founded in 1993. Its team of around 110 specialists covering a broad spectrum of qualifications currently provides consultancy services through offices in Bratislava, Prague, Sofia and Zagreb.

CCS Consulting provides consultancy services in the areas of law, taxes, accounting, payroll and audits. Its primary mission is to provide clients with comprehensive service under one roof. CCS Consulting's clientele hails primarily from the German speaking countries, although in recent years it has expanded to include clients in English and French speaking countries.

During the first months after its founding, the company's staff worked with a software called Notia, whose creators however had not considered long-term development. For this reason, when the company was a year old it was decided to procure a new information system which would be able to cover the company's entire agenda. CCS Consulting's management decided to purchase the Helios Orange system (then known as LCS Helios).

"The decision-making process was relatively easy," remembers Ing. Libor Kadlec, tax consultant and senior partner for economic issues. "In 1993, there were only a few software applications on the market. We chose Helios at an information software expo in Prague, where LCS's employees won us over with their excellent and interesting presentation."

In 1994, a contract was signed between CCS Consulting and LCS, the creator of the Helios Orange information system. Implementation proceeded quickly, and live operation of the system could be launched that same year. A major contribution to the problem-free course of implementation was the excellent cooperation between the client's team and that of LCS, which included the constant participation of an experienced consultant. This form of cooperation proved its worth again in 2002, when the system was upgraded to a Windows version.

Since the beginning, CCS Consulting has implemented the Accounting, Payroll and Assets modules, which it uses for several dozen clients. In addition to these financial modules, the company also uses the management interface and IFRS.

How does management see the system's benefits for the company today, more than thirteen years after implementation? "Perhaps the most important benefit for us was gaining a tool for communicating with our foreign clients' management and controlling," states Kadlec. "Thanks to the program's flexibility, we also gained the possibility of using one single financial software for a diverse range of clients, which to no small degree facilitates our employees' work," he adds.

CCS Consulting is currently contemplating unifying the information base at all its offices. Besides the Czech Republic, this means Slovakia, Croatia and Bulgaria. Management is thus considering implementing the Helios Orange information system at its offices in these countries.
